What We Offer for your RYA Training 

  • We deliver a variety of formats of learning to suit your own needs, whilst retaining low student to instructor ratio.

  • We pride ourselves in classes of maximum of 1 to 6 students, but mostly one-to-one or in pairs.

  • We provide classroom courses in Cowes IOW  with support from our experienced practical skippers & instructors.

  • We offer bespoke dates on application (unless published under Current Dates & News), including evenings, midweek and weekends, we are really flexible so give us a ring or drop up as an e-mail or text. We love to do Mid-Week dates if you are available, we are!

  • We maximise your involment using various instructional techniques by qualified trainers.

  • Our prices include RYA Student Packs and loan of Training Almanacs. 

  • We also lend out an extensive library of study books to support you during our classroom courses.

VHF Marine Radio - Classroom.

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. These include both fixed and hand held equipment using international channels.

The course is split into two parts - the learning part by Classroom and then an independent practical/written assessment of your learning with us.

Maximum of six (6) students but happy if only one to one for classroom delivery.

RYA Sea Survival Course.NOT OFFERED 

A one-day course for anyone going to sea, providing an understanding of how to use the safety equipment on board yoir boat. Even our instructor (Karoline) gets wet and supports students from inside the pool including those that may feel 'uncomfortable' in the water.There is also an additional lifeguard to support the instructor from outside the water.

Cruising is one of the safest leisure sporting activities, however if required your chances of survival will be greatly increased if you understand how to use the equipment and how to help yourself.

RYA Diesel Engine - NOT OFFERED

Most engine problems can be avoided by taking simple precautions, and you don't need a detailed mechanical knowledge.

The one-day course teaches you how your engine works, how to keep it healthy by using basdic checks and maintenance procedures, and how to get it started again in the event of a breakdown.

Navigation & Seamanship THEORY Courses.

Classroom delivery from one (1) to six (6) students

Essential Navigation and Seamanship - Classroom 

Navigation and safety awareness for the new competent crew/future day skippers/powerboat helms and crew or for those wishing to refresh their knowledge.

 

Day Skipper - Classroom

A comprehensive introduction to cruising (sail or power) for budding/new skippers. This course equips you with enough Theory knowledge to help you navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is included to introduce you to night cruising.

 

Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore - Classroom

Advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper Theory Course. The course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages, day or night.
